Welcome to The Bilingual Plaza! If I had to choose one word to describe what I feel right now, it would be EXCITEMENT. Excitement for creating this space where bilingual and dual teachers can exchange ideas, opinions and resources to offer our students the best possible education in English and Spanish. The Bilingual Plaza is officially open!

As a bilingual teacher, I know how complicated is to find quality materials to be used simultaneously in dual classrooms. And it is even more difficult to find activities that are engaging, fun and interesting for our students. That is why “The Bilingual Plaza” is a place where worldwide educators will find quality resources and ideas in both English and Spanish, such as:

• Ideas to gamify your classroom.
• Activities that will add rigor to your lesson.
• Digital resources to motivate all learners.
• Cooperative learning materials to engage your whole class.
• Bilingual resources that will make coordination between dual teachers easier.

Additionally, “The Bilingual Plaza” will be an online space to exchange opinions, experiences and methodologies with other teachers. It will be a place where we can learn new games and strategies from each other. As Paulo Freire said: ‘Whoever teaches learns in the act of teaching’. And in this plaza, we will be able to keep learning with the firm goal of offering the best education possible to our bilingual students.

Who is behind “The Bilingual Plaza”?

My name is Raúl, but my students call me Mr. H or Mr. Hache. I am a passionate bilingual teacher who traveled from Spain to Texas to work in an Elementary School. Last year, I was in charge of seventeen awesome 5th-grade bilingual kids. As a self-contained teacher, I taught all subjects (high five those who prepare 3-4 lesson plans each week!) and I was also responsible for teaching them two languages and to respect the cultural diversity that they represent.

I love teaching with passion and without forgetting my why: education is the passport to the future.
